Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS) and Environmental Toxicants: A Powerful, Underrecognized Relationship
May 18, 2026
Overview
Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS, formerly PCOS) is the most common metabolic endocrine disorder of reproductive aged women, impacting up to 25% of all women. It is also the most common cause of female infertility.
PMOS presents a significant challenge to treatment, with affected women developing a wide array of both reproductive and metabolic medical problems. The explanation for the explosive growth in the worldwide incidence of PMOS has been complex, incorporating a myriad of lifestyle elements impacting the development of this condition and exacerbating the symptoms. Environmental toxicants, including various ubiquitous endocrine disruptors, have emerged as a major contributor to the development and growth of PMOS.
This webinar will cover the essential medical issues surrounding the development of PMOS and its multitude of symptoms and related health challenges, both overt and covert, review the powerful role of environmental toxicants and their detection through lab testing, and present therapeutic approaches to lessen the toxicant load and optimize the health of women living with PMOS.
Objectives
Learning Objectives:
1. Review the symptoms and diagnostic criteria for PMOS.
2. Recognize the powerful role played by environmental toxicants on the development and growing severity of PMOS worldwide.
3. Acquire the knowledge of lab tests to determine the toxicants actively affecting individual patients.
4. Develop an efficacious approach to reducing the toxicant load and optimizing the health of women with PMOS.
